Fistula treatment in Gandhinagar, planned around you.

A fistula is a small tunnel between the inside of the anal canal and the skin outside, usually left behind by an old abscess. It shows up as a boil that keeps coming back, pus or blood-stained discharge, and pain or swelling near the anus. Creams don't close a fistula; it needs a doctor's plan.

Signs to look for

What it usually feels like

A boil that keeps returning

Near the anus, bursts and refills.

Discharge

Pus, blood or fluid that stains the underwear.

Pain and swelling

Often with fever when an abscess forms.

A small opening

A pimple-like hole in the skin near the anus.

Why examination comes first

Fistulas differ in how the tunnel runs through the anal muscle. The doctor examines you and, when needed, advises an MRI fistulogram, so the treatment protects your control of stool.

Our approach

Herbal care first. Surgery only when it's needed.

  1. Free ANOcheck™. Flags symptoms that need a visit; fistula is not treated with a kit alone.
  2. Examination and imaging. Proctoscopy, and MRI fistulogram if the tract is complex.
  3. Ksharasutra. A classical Ayurvedic medicated thread, a speciality of Dr. Ekta Patel, done in small sittings.
  4. Laser fistula closure or chemical seton. Chosen by tract type, with day-care admission in most cases.

Don't wait if you notice

See a doctor soon for heavy bleeding, dark or black stool, fever with pain and swelling, weight loss, or a change in bowel habit lasting more than a few weeks, especially after age 40. These need an examination, not a kit. Pregnant patients and anyone with a fistula should always consult the doctor first.

Questions people ask

Fistula: common questions

Can a fistula heal with medicine?

Antibiotics can calm an infection, but the tunnel usually stays and the abscess returns. A procedure such as Ksharasutra or laser is normally needed.

What is Ksharasutra?

A thread coated with Ayurvedic herbal alkaline preparations, placed through the fistula tract. It cuts and heals the tract slowly over weekly changes, preserving the muscle.

Will fistula surgery affect control of stool?

The aim of every method used here is to protect the sphincter muscle. Your doctor will explain the risk for your particular tract before treatment.

Do I need to stay in hospital?

Most laser and Ksharasutra procedures are day-care; you go home the same day.
